Italy Prepares for Playoff
Italy will head to the World Cup play-offs for the first time since 1997, but who will they face in November?
The 3-0 defeat of Spain last night meant it was impossible for Italy to take top spot in the group and only group winners who qualified directly to the World Cup in Russia Situs Judi.
The runner-up (second place winner) must enter the play-offs, which will start in November.
At least the Azzurri will be seeded in this draw, so it should theoretically get a weak opponent.
Opponents Italy could be Sweden, Republic of Ireland, Greece and Northern Ireland.
There are some dangerous teams, such as Slovakia and Iceland, although some groups can still change.
Surprisingly, the last time Italy entered the play-offs to get into the World Cup was in 1997 against Russia, as Gigi Buffon came off the bench to make his senior debut in the cold snow.
Second leg victory 2-0 at Napoli make Italy qualify for qualification.
